Perhaps a not widely known fact, but 2008 was one of the most technologically innovative years in ICT that we have ever seen. As well as the phasing out of the much-loved Windows XP and the introduction of Vista, Microsoft also replaced all three major server products that ESP specialises in installing and supporting. Exchange Server 2007, Windows Server 2008 and Small Business Server 2008 all bring with them huge pressures on us to learn quickly and take on board a whole new set of skills. We are also facing new products and technologies in the fields of antivirus, backup software and network attached storage.
Despite £1000’s of external training, this is no substitute for staff sharing the practical knowledge, processes, tweaks and tips with each other and we don’t always get the time to do this ‘under one roof’. We have therefore set aside some time on Thursday April 16th for an ESP Knowledge Sharing Day, where each member of the team gives a presentation and fields questions on a new technology. Unfortunately this does necessitate closing the sales & support lines for that day. We hope you share our confidence that this is an essential learning exercise.
